Kids Cafe is back for Term 3!! We already have seven classes signed up. Our first Kids Cafe was a huge success last term. It's great to have some of the same classes joining us again, as well as some new classes signing up. A big thank you to Megan for sharing Kids Cafe at Educampakl. I can't wait to see all your exciting tutorials later this term.
Here is an outline of the timetable for Term 3
Friday 12th September - all tutorials to be uploaded to the Google Presentation.
Monday 15th September - Thursday 18th September - Classes to run their own Kids Cafe Day in their classrooms.
Friday 19th September - Follow up kids Twitter chat to provide an opportunity for reflection and allow children to give feedback to each other.
The tutorials can be on any topic, from maths to P.E or a topic a child has explored through Adventure Learning/ personalised inquiry. The aim is to get more kids teaching each other through an authentic context. Sound like someone you're interested in or know someone else who might be? Sign your class up here - http://goo.gl/dyQTMa

How to Join the Twitter Chat
As you know the last week of Kids Cafe is your opportunity to host your own Kids Cafe Day in your class. On the Friday of that week there will be a Twitter chat that all classes are invited to join. The Twitter chat will take place at 10.00 am and will run for 30 minutes. The purpose of the chat is for students to reflect on their experience of Kids Cafe, provide feedback to other students about their presentations and discuss how we could further improve Kids Cafe for next time.
To participate in the Kids Cafe chat you need to join the Kids Cafe Twitter list and subscribe. Here's how you can do that...
- Send a tweet to @Kidscafenz asking for your class to be put on the list. This will be done within 24 hours.
- Click this link - https://twitter.com/kidscafenz/lists/kids-cafe-nz and then click 'subscribe' on the left hand side.
- When it's the Friday chat open up the Kids Cafe list by clicking here - https://twitter.com/kidscafenz/lists
Then you will easily be able to follow the tweets from all of the classes tweeting about Kids Cafe. We use a list instead of a hash tag as it ensures that we don't receive any spam during our chat.
Here are the questions for the Friday Kids Cafe Twitter chat...
- What workshops did you participate in during Kids Cafe Day?
- What did you learn?
- What was your favourite part about participating in Kids Cafe?
- Give a piece of positive feedback to the person who created the workshop you participated in. Remember to tag their class Twitter account in your tweet.
- How could they improve their workshop if they did it again? Remember to tag their class Twitter account in your tweet.
- Have you got any photos you would like to share of your Kids Cafe Day?
